GJ Curbside has another dynamic local product to add to the list. Now, this product may not be produced here in Louisiana, but the idea and company were born here. The idea was sourced by two local couples of Morgan City and Pierre Part. They had a dream of creating wines that focused solely on the Napa Valley and they made it happen. Here is their story!
The adventure started with great friends who share a passion and love for Napa Valley and its wines. One evening over a nice bottle of wine, the couples decided it was time to turn their passion into a business. The friends, Bruce and Jennifer Adams from Morgan City, La., and Russ and Jennifer Settoon from Pierre Part, La., declared a goal of creating wines of outstanding quality and excellent value with fruit sourced from some of the best vineyards in the Napa Valley. They founded Two Jay Wines, LLC, a Louisiana owned company. Two Jay produces wines exclusively from the Napa Valley Region of California.
Their inaugural release of Vineyard 985 includes a 2018 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and a 2019 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc. These are now ready to enjoy on GJ Curbside! See the tasting notes below as composed by our winemaker Derek Beitler and ENJOY!!!
VINEYARD 985 Napa Valley
Sauvignon Blanc 2019
The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from a small independent grower located in Napa County's Pope Valley AVA. The Pope Valley AVA is ideal for growing Sauvignon Blanc with its sandy loam soils, warm days and very cold nights. The 2019 growing
season began with a wet winter followed by a mild spring. While this led to a later start to the season the long warm summer provided plenty of sunshine for the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly providing freshness in the fruit as it languished on the vines. The optimal summer weather in 2019 resulted in a very robust harvest.
Winemaking &Tasting Notes by Derek Beitler
We harvest our Sauvignon Blanc during the cool predawn hours to fully capture their pure flavors and vibrant acidity. The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Musque'. The Sauvignon Musque' gives this wine it's high fruit tones along with the minerality and citrus flavors provided by the Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes were pressed as whole clusters which maximizes the fruits intensity and minimizes astringency from the skins and seeds. The wine was then cold fermented in Stainless steel tanks to dryness. Floral aromas of jasmine and magnolia harmonize with the fresh key lime, and pink
grapefruit on the nose. Cool melon tones balance with citrus flavors on the palate accented by fresh acidity and a subtle minerality on the finish.
